Fan favorite Marcel Siem has confirmed his participation in the 2026 Austrian Alpine Open. The six-time DP World Tour winner was a crowd favorite last year and thrilled golf fans in Austria with a strong performance.
Marcel Siem will also be competing in this year’s edition of the Austrian Alpine Open presented by Kitzbühel Tirol at the Kitzbühel Schwarzsee Reith Golf Course. Last year, the German generated a lot of excitement among the spectators, who turned out in large numbers to accompany and support him. Siem played a strong tournament and shone particularly on the final day with a round of 63, which earned him a tie for fifth place in the overall standings.
Marcel Siem is one of the tour’s veterans—the German has been professional for 25 years. He turned pro in 2000 and made the tour in 2002 via Qualifying School.
Siem celebrated his first victory in 2004 at the Dunhill Championship, where he defeated the two Frenchmen Grégory Havret and Raphael Jacquelin in a playoff.
In 2006, Siem teamed up with Bernhard Langer to win the World Cup of Golf, the unofficial team world championship—a major success for German golf.
Siem celebrated his second DP World Tour title in 2012 at the Alstom Open de France.
This was followed by victories at the Trophée Hassan II in 2013 and the BMW Masters in China in 2014. There, he defeated Ross Fisher and Alex Levy in a playoff and achieved his best result in the Race to Dubai standings with a seventh-place finish.
After losing his playing privileges on the DP World Tour in 2020, Siem played on the HotelPlanner Tour in 2021, where he won the Le Vaudreuil Golf Challenge. The victory secured him a spot in the subsequent Open Championship at Royal St George’s, where Siem took golf fans by storm. He remained in the top 10 for three days and ultimately finished the tournament in a tie for 15th place. Siem also earned his way back onto the DP World Tour that year.
At the 2023 Singapore Classic, the German played his 500th tournament on the DP World Tour and returned to winning ways two weeks later with a victory at the Hero Indian Open, more than eight years after his last triumph in China.
At the 2024 Italian Open, he claimed his sixth title on the DP World Tour, defeating Tom McKibbin on the first extra hole. To date, Siems’ playoff record on the Tour remains flawless.
