Luke Campbell Donald, born on December 7, 1977, in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, is one of the most outstanding golfers of his generation. The father of three played his way to the top of the world in the early 2000s and was ranked number 1 in the world golf rankings for 56 weeks .

His career has been marked by impressive successes on both sides of the Atlantic. In 2011, Donald made golf history when he became the first player to win both the US PGA Tour money list and the European Tour's Race to Dubai in the same year. For this extraordinary achievement, he was named Player of the Year on both tours.


Tournament successes and milestones

With five victories on the PGA Tour and seven on the European Tour, Donald is one of the most successful European golfers. His greatest individual successes include victories at the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship (2011) and two titles at the prestigious BMW PGA Championship (2011, 2012) .


The Ryder Cup also plays a major role in Donald’s success story:

  • As a player, he participated in the Ryder Cup four times (2004, 2006, 2010, 2012) – and won each time.

  • 2023 Ryder Cup Captain: As team captain, Luke Donald led Europe to a convincing 16½ to 11½ victory against the USA in 2023 at Marco Simone Golf and Country Club in Italy.
