Following its successful premiere in 2025 at the GC Altentann in SalzburgerLand, where Germany's Nicolai von Dellingshausen became the first winner of the inaugural Austrian Alpine Open, Austria's biggest golf event is now moving on to Tyrol as planned.

From May 28th to 31st, 2026, the DP World Tour will make a stop at the traditional Kitzbühel-Schwarzsee-Reith golf course with the Austrian Alpine Open presented by Kitzbühel, Tyrol. The top DP World Tour players will get in the mood for the prestigious tournament during the first training days starting on May 25th, 2026. Tyrolean youth golfers will also be actively involved in the supporting program. The stars of European golf will open the event together with amateurs at the ProAm tournament on May 27th, 2026.

Just in time for the big highlight, the Kitzbühel-Schwarzsee-Reith golf course will be looking its best: With seven new tees, which are already whetting the appetite for great tournament moments, plus freshly modeled bunker areas and an innovative practice facility, the golf course will meet the high standards of the DP World Tour – and thus continue to offer green fee guests and members an extraordinary experience in the future.

With the return of the biggest domestic golf event to Austria, Kitzbühel is impressively continuing its claim to be the most legendary sports city in the Alps: In addition to the world-famous Hahnenkamm races, the tennis highlight – the Generali Open – and numerous other top events, international golf on DP Worl Tour level is now also celebrated in the heart of Tyrol.

In Tyrol, more than 20 golf clubs – including 16 partner facilities of “Golf Tirol” – invite you to the most beautiful regions of the state. Well-maintained fairways in varied alpine landscapes offer everything a golfer's heart desires: from gentle courses in the valley floor to challenging alpine courses stretching from the Arlberg to the Zillertal, the Kitzbühel Alps, and the Zugspitze. The Golf Tirol Card provides access to 16 first-class golf courses in the heart of the Alps. Whether it's a relaxed 9-hole round in the valley or a challenging 18-hole course at high altitude, golfers can enjoy the full diversity of Tyrol with this card.

Comments on the event

Edwin Weindorfer, CEO of Golfenterprises GmbH:

"Following the successful premiere of the Austrian Alpine Open in Salzburg-Altentann with 18,000 enthusiastic golf fans, Kitzbühel will be the venue for the biggest golf event in Austria in 2026. We want to establish the week as the Hahnenkamm of golf and see Tyrol and Kitzbühel as fantastic partners for this endeavor. The many top events in Kitzbühel show that the town lives and breathes sport.“

Gerhard Frühling, President of the Austrian Golf Association:

”The Austrian Alpine Open presented by SalzburgerLand has shown the appeal that international golf can have in Austria – in sporting, social and economic terms. This makes us all the more excited for 2026, when the Austrian Alpine Open will continue in Kitzbühel. Tyrol offers the perfect stage to continue the success story of this event. As an association, we see it as our duty to support this tournament not only conceptually, but also organizationally in the best possible way. Our goal is clear: to establish Austria as a permanent fixture in the DP World Tour calendar – and to inspire the next generation of players.“

Dr. Viktoria Veider-Walser, Managing Director of Kitzbühel Tourism:

”We are delighted that the Kitzbühel-Schwarzsee-Reith golf course will be the venue for the next Austrian Alpine Open and thus part of the DP World Tour. With four golf courses on site, Kitzbühel is one of the leading golf regions in the Alpine region. Golf is a strategic strength of our summer positioning, and with targeted investments – for example in the areas of golf and biking – we have launched a clear quality offensive. We also see this as a strong alliance between Salzburg and Tyrol.”

Karin Seiler, Managing Director of Tirol Werbung:

"We are very much looking forward to the Austrian Alpine Open 2026, when the world's golfing elite will tee off in Kitzbühel. In addition to great sport, the event will also put the region's excellent golf facilities and the Tyrolean landscape in the international spotlight. In addition, by scheduling the event in early summer, we are strengthening the off-season for tourism and underlining our commitment to year-round tourism."
